An Epic Story With Believable, Likeable Characters. M.K. Eidem Doesn't Disappoint!

Wow!! I just spent 4.5 hours reading this epic novel and it was fabulous. I admit to being a fan of M.K. Eidem and of this series and this book was the best so far (I have a feeling I'm going to say that about all future books too)! This is the story of Jacinda and King Jotham, two long widowed characters who find the final loves of their lives. This is what makes the book special to me. It's not an insta-love, melodramatic piece of fluff. This book has two fully-fledged characters who have complex emotions and real challenges to overcome. Many characters from Cassandra's Challenge and Victoria's Challenge are woven into the story, giving us a look into their current lives and setting up future stories. We are also introduced to new characters, notably Jacinda's adult children. The writing was very good, only a few errors (possibly due to editing out a line and forgetting to change the sentence before or after), and the story never really dragged or felt rushed. In theory, this book could be read as a standalone, but is richly enhanced by the two previous books in the series. 10/10 stars, will definitely re-read, probably this week!

An amazingly beautiful love story

I love that Michelle writes books long enough to actually tell a story. This was an amazing love story of two mature adults finding love for the second time. Characters and events from prior books were tied in perfectly. All of Michelle's books are worth reading and then rereading over and over again.

Jacinda's Challenge - 10 Stars of Awesome

This is the third book in The Imperial Series by MK Eidem, and if I could post 10 stars I would. Loving the characters and world created in Cassandra's Challenge And Victoria's Challenge this book is not only my favorite of the series but one of my top favs period, and a definite reread. Finally a fantastic exciting story whose central characters are going thru a reawakening of their emotions and ability to feel love again. Jacinda and King Jotham are sexy, confident, powerful exciting characters whose story is riveting.
Having known each other since their days at the Academy, Jacinda and Jotham's lives have always been intertwined. Jacinda was not only a good friend of Jotham's late wife but her husband who passed several years ago, was an important assemblyman for the House of Protection.
Though it takes some time for them to realize they having growing feelings for each other, and with many challenges to overcome, they find that love the second time around can be just as powerful and amazing.

Many of the characters from the first two books are woven into the story as well as several new ones, including Jacinda's children. These characters and the world they live in are very believable. This is a scify with characters and a world we can relate to and thru the authors talent for writing detailed multilayered stories it's a book you can really sink your mental teeth in. A truly unique story very different than the previous books, never predictable, delighting in every twist and turn.
Love loved having main characters I could relate to that are special, sexy gorgeous exciting, confident (and not twenty year olds) , emotional, sensitive, and loyal. The book was excellently paced I could not put it down once started, didn't want it to end.
A riveting beautiful love story with awesome characters in a phenomenal world that is really a must read whether you are a scify fan or not. Can't wait for the next one.

I am just starting to use this textbook, but I found it very tedious to use their online practice. My English Lab is a terrible site for a teacher and my students have already complained about it. I will soon contact the authors to express my disappointment.

About the Author

ROBIN HIGHAM is Professor Emeritus of Military History at Kansas State University and editor of the Journal of the West. The author of many articles, monographs, and bibliographical volumes, he has also been editor of the journals Military Affairs and Aerospace Historian.

About the Author
Guoguang Wu is Professor of Political Science, Professor of History, and Chair in China and Asia-Pacific Relations at the University of Victoria, Canada. He was involved in China's Party Congress as a policy advisor to then Party Chief Zhao Ziyang and a member of the draft group of the Central Committee's report to the Congress. The author, co-author and editor of twenty-two books in both English and Chinese, he is also a contributor to journals including Asian Survey, China Quarterly, Comparative Political Studies, the Journal of Contemporary China, the Pacific Review, Social Research, and Third World Quarterly.

This is a ground-breaking study. The author, who is a prominent political scientist specializing in China, tries to explain why a Leninist party bothers to convene a mostly symbolic conference once every five years (now, but not under Mao Zedong). He finds that the party congress performs very important functions of legitimizing leadership, rallying the officials behind a policy agenda, and consolidating factional networks. Wu analyzes changes from Mao to Hu Jintao and shows how top party leaders skillfully manipulate the procedures of the congress to achieve their political objectives.

CLAUDIA DURST JOHNSON is Professor Emeritus at the University of Alabama, where she served as chair of the English Department for twelve years. I walked by this giant Cottonwood tree many times. Many times I've appreciated its shade on a hot summer's day, enjoyed the leaves twirling in the sind as they return to earth in October and pondered what stories this tree could tell form one of its more than forty thousand days and nights watching over this neighborhood.

Today was different. I stopped. As I leaned against the tree the words seemed to flow out of me as I said, "Can you help me? I need some advice!" I felt the tree reach out to me, to wrap me in its branches, invite me closer and comfort me as I leaned against its steady trunk. This old and wise Cottonwood tree spoke to me with kindness and wisdom.

Wonderful Teaching Tool and just Darn Good Lessons!

This is a lovely "very small" book, appropriate for a graduate, as a learning experience. If one is wanting to do a "family tree," this is a good preparatory or introduction. I bought it along with "The Giving Tree" as a basis for learning to give while growing. The book is small, with one line on some pages, i.e. "don't forget your roots.", Illustrations are exquisite. I highly recommend it to parents wanting to teach their children about the importance of their place in nature - not as an "environmental indoctrination," but as a tool for teaching the cyclical process of life.

I just started the book so I'm only a couple chapters in, but I love it so far. Usually books don't help me a whole lot but this one has already helped me start living better by living simpler. It's a really great book. It explains simple points well, gives a quote from either the bible or from a famous person about that certain point, and then gives a little easy activity to help you really understand it. I love it. I think it'd be good to read and reflect on about one different way each day.
